Why this exists
This seed initiative is a grassroots effort, rooted in care for the Earth, for our health and for future generations.
It exists to expand access to local regionally adapted seeds and to support the growers and stewards keeping them alive.
How it began
It started with a simple need.
Access to organic, open-pollinated, heirloom, & landrace seeds is still limited in many places, both online and locally.
A call was put out to the global growing community to help find and share their trusted seed sources.
And so many people responded.
Growers, gardeners, and seed stewards from around the world contributed sources from their regions, helping build what became the Global Seed Directory.
The Global Seed Directory began as a small list of seed sources that quickly grew, country by country, through shared knowledge, community effort, and a deep collective care for seeds.
Moving forward
This continues to grow through community contribution and shared knowledge.
Together, we are helping restore access to seeds, support local growers, from backyards to regenerative and permaculture farms, to make it easier for people everywhere to grow where they are and #PLANTFOR CHANGE.
